The Upper Moutere area of Nelson is the home of an extraordinary producer, Neudorf. They seem to capture pinot’s delicate character and quality, then enhance it further with careful winemaking, ultimately providing us with soul-enriching liquid.
Neudorf Tom’s Block Pinot Noir 2010 ($34) is ripe and silky, rich and textured, and very long on the finish. This is very, very good. It will be even better in a few years.
Neudorf Moutere Pinot Noir 2010 ($54) is superbly complex and engaging, and undeniably gratifying. Pinot enthusiasts dream about an ultimate pinot showing sensuality as well as power. This has both.
