Nelson is Australasia’s largest fishing port, so if you are planning a trip to Neudorf Vineyards make sure you take time to dine at the region’s famous cafes and restaurants. A fat Nelson oyster washed down with a glass of Neudorf Chardonnay is an experience for every seafood lover. The intense power of Neudorf Nelson Sauvignon Blanc makes it a great match for a bowl of creamy seafood chowder or a freshly steamed crab.
We recommend you book into Hopgoods in Trafalgar Street, Harry’s Bar in Hardy St or The Boatshed Cafe on Wakefield Quay. Bouterey’s in Richmond is excellent and in summer the Cable Bay Cafe is fantastic.
Heading out of town, the Smokehouse is on the wharf at Mapua and produces exquisite smoked fish using their special Manuka and honey recipe. Monteray House at Ngatimoti is a must for a memorable country lunch.
