“Nelson is a home away from home for the Spanish albariño grape if this wine is anything to go by. It has typical orange/mandarin flavours, good weight and subtle spiciness. Flavoursome in a truly dry, but not austere, style and boasting a lengthy finish.” Bob Campbell MW

Approachable and moreish. On the nose we note cucumber and a brine character – reminiscent of a pleasant sea breeze. The wine itself is gently assertive with some delicious phenolics wrapped around a tight core of intense fruit. Across the palate it is full and yet still finishes with a flourish of pleasurable aromatics. To say this would be a match for Kai moana is an understatement – drink with freshly shucked Kiwa oysters or a slice of pan seared tuna especially anything with a Thai accent – we see lime and Asian spice lingering on the nose.
Sadly 2016 was a very small vintage and we have only 98 cases.
“Lush, juicy and alluring fruit centred bouquet with aromas of peach and ripe apple, a floral moment suggesting white flowers then fine mineral undertone. On the palate – immediately engaging with vibrant acidity and flavours of peach then citrus with a lemon note, some apple and spice. Quite an engaging wine with a honey suckle and floral notes leading to a dry finish.” 92 Points, Cameron Douglas MS
“An exciting debut. Excellent vigour and intensity of fresh, ripe, citrusy, peachy, spicy flavours, a slightly salty streak running through, a touch of complexity, and a tangy, lasting finish. Finely balanced and full of personality, it’s already delicious.” Five Stars Michael Cooper. 2015 Vintage
“Good drinking here. Curious; personality had me repeat attacking the glass. Sea spray, cucumber, orange marmalade scents. In the palate, more of that saline stuff going on, but settled into gentle nuttiness and a vein of baked apple fruit character. Darts and dashes in the mouth. Dry finish. Really good drink. 90 points” Mike Bennie, The Wine Front. 2015 Vintage
