"A lovely Riesling bouquet with aromas of Meyer lemon, mandarin, limeflower, tangerine, apple and white blossoms. Dry on the palate with flavours that reflect the nose, high acidity, loads of wet-stone mineral flavours and lengthy finish. Balanced and well made with a long development period ahead.” Cameron Douglas MS, NZ 2017 Vintage.
Riesling is on a roll.
The grape is getting lot of love from actual wine drinkers not just winemakers, wine sellers and writers. Heavens to Betsy this is a wonderful thing because it is a joyous grape and it keeps forever and it loves all that healthy, delicious seafood New Zealand harvests (sustainably, we hope).
So to our Riesling – Neudorf Moutere Riesling 2019 - it is a wonderful conundrum – practically dry is but totally full on the palate, complex and dense – the grapes natural acidity is hiding under uber ripe fruit. The warmth of the 2019 vintage has stroked Riesling into submission. Wonderful limes and lemons (zest not juice) and the wild yeast ferment seems to give the wine some heft at a young age. This is one of the driest Rieslings we’ve produced over the past few years and yet it is chokka with flavour.
We feel it is special.
Neudorf Moutere Riesling Dry 2017 - "Bright apple and lime-juice aromas with a very pure, fragrant and fresh impression on the nose that leads to a richly flavoured palate with impressive concentration and bright, lively, fresh apples and limes. 94 Points."Nick Stock for James Suckling
