Named after Tim and Judy’s daughter Rosie. Her block sits on the hill overlooking the home block. Winemaking is very similar to Moutere – 100% malolactic fermentation and only about 15 % new oak.

2017 vintage produced a green/gold wine with generous mouthfeel… white peach underscored by an intriguing savoury note. A touch of citrus and notes of dill. The wine is rich but controlled. The word sleek springs to mind. A girdle of acidity keeps the full, textured, palate under control and offers a refreshing, cleansing finish. This persistent finish which leaves a satisfying trail of flavour.

Drink it slightly cool, not cold and enjoy alongside chicken, grilled hoki and as a counterpoint to roast pork crackling.

As a wine we feel this vintage is showing splendidly considering its youth. It is drinking well now and will continue to evolve as it ages.
Suave handling of oak is elegant and restrained.
A juicy wine inviting a second glance.
The wine is precise and polished exhibiting classic “Neudorf” notes.

    Drink, cellar, share and enjoy.

“Light, fresh, delicate chardonnay with subtle nutty lees, oyster shell and bran biscuit flavours. Appealing purity. Quite a charming wine from a challenging vintage. When the going gets tough." Bob Campbell MW

    Neudorf Rosie's Block Chardonnay 2017

Neudorf Rosie's Block Chardonnay 2017 - "Very appetising with good breadth of fruit and no excess of acidity. Although it was bottled only two months earlier, it's already open and appealing. Great tension but with a solid core of fresh fruit. 17 Points."

Neudorf Rosie's Block Chardonnay 2017 - "Enticing and intriguing bouquet of Chardonnay with a flinty floral then ripe yellow stone fruit beginning; as the wine opens up in glass the sweet scents of oak emerge with vanilla and white toast then a distinctive mineral and honeysuckle layer. Wonderful texture on the palate with a vibrant core of fruit energised by acidity and new oak; flavours of white peach, red apple and quince; the vanilla sweet oak layer returns with a noticeable spice lick from the wood. Lovely lengthy finish, great balance and youthful energy. 94 Points."

Neudorf Rosie's Block Chardonnay 2017 - "Richness of fruit, good application of vanilla oak, glossy feel with firm limey acidity, so silky and flavoursome, with a chalky and savoury finish. Power, but with a little finesse. Like this. It’s Chardonnay all right. 94 Points."

    Gary Walsh, The Wine Front

Neudorf Rosie's Block Chardonnay 2017 - "Layers of tropical fruit and peachy goodness, spiced biscuits, gentle flinty smokiness. Silky and rich in flavour, with a core of grapefruity acidity, and a wee bit of chalkiness pulling the finish into shape. Subtle yoghourt flavour in the mix too. Lovely graceful style balancing flavour with finesse. 94 Points."

    Gary Walsh

Neudorf Rosie's Block Chardonnay 2017 - "Medium to light yellow colour and a rich, creamy, nutty, nougat-like bouquet loaded with the full suite of chardonnay complexities. Buttery and honeyed nuances too. A very rewarding chardonnay. Delicious. 92 Points."

Neudorf Rosie's Block Chardonnay 2017 - "This classy wine was hand-picked, mostly at Upper Moutere and barrel-fermented. An elegant wine, with a highly fragrant, complex bouquet, it has intense, citrusy, apple-y flavours, a slightly creamy texture and a crisp, tight, lasting finish. Five Stars."

    Michael Cooper

Neudorf Rosie's Block Chardonnay 2017 - "Offering good value, the classy 2017 vintage was hand-harvested, principally in Rosie's Block and the Home Block, both at Upper Moutere. Fermented with indigenous yeasts and lees-aged for 10 months in French oak casks, it was given a full, softening malolactic fermentation. Light lemon/green, with a highly fragrant, complex bouquet, it is a very elegant wine, with intense, citrusy, appley flavours, a minerally streak, a slightly creamy texture and a crisp, tight, lasting finish. Five Stars."

    Michael Cooper

Neudorf Rosie's Block Chardonnay 2017 - "Slightly waxy aromas with subtly spiced peaches and pastry, leading to a palate that has a supple array of brightly spiced, fleshy fruit and a savoury, spiced-biscuit thread to the finish. 92 Points."

    Nick Stock for James Suckling

Neudorf Rosie's Block Chardonnay 2017 - "The ‘Rosie’s Block’ Chardonnay has a wonderful pedigree, and I have found the quality to be up with some of the country’s premium bottlings, even though it sits second to the Neudorf ‘Moutere’ Chardonnay. The fruit richness and depth is balanced by fresh, lacy acidity, and the wine forms a fine core with drive and linearity. The wine carries to a long finish with flint and mineral detail. This is an elegantly concentrated, complex layered and detailed Chardonnay with subtly rich fruit on a fresh palate. 19 Points, Five Stars."

    Raymond Chan

Neudorf Rosie's Block Chardonnay 2017 - "There is always something earthy and savoury about Neudorf's Chardonnays. Rosie's Block, named after founders Tim and Judy Finn's daughter is an excellent value alternative to its Moutere Chardonnay. Grown on the Moutere clay gravels, wild fermented in barrel (15% new), the result is a a round, creamy mid-weight Chardonnay offering flavours reminiscent of spiced apples, a subtle hint of hazelnut, flint and a slice of lemon-fresh acidity on the conclusion bringing a brightness to the medium-length finish. 90 Points."
