Home Block

This is where it started. In 1978 Tim and I bought this block from descendants of the original German settlers who arrived in 1842. We live here in an old villa which was the second house on the property. Source of the original Moutere Chardonnay, some of the first Chardonnay vines planted in the South Island.

Stats: 5.43 ha. 45% Pinot Noir, 43% Chardonnay, 12% Pinot Gris. Originally planted in 1978. Varietal mix tinkered with in the early 1990’s and 2000’s. Moutere Clay Gravel. Dry Farmed. Organically Run.

Tom’s Block

The next paddock to the home block, purchased from neighbours Tom and Norma Francis in 1999.

Stats: 4.32 ha. 100% Pinot Noir. Planted 1999. Fertile topsoil over deep Moutere Clay Gravel. North Facing. Site of the original “shell trials.” Dry Farmed. Organically Run.

Rosie's Block

Purchased in 1999 from the Beuke family, also descendants of the original German settlers. Around the corner up Rosedale Rd, the block overlooks our home vineyard and is named after our daughter. Bordered on the south by a mature, QE2 covenanted block of native bush, with a corridor of our recent wetland plantings extending down a gully into the vineyard it is a strikingly beautiful vineyard.

Stats: 7.76 ha. 78% Chardonnay, 14% Riesling, 8% Albariño. Originally planted in 1999, added to in 2003, 2009 and 2013. North facing Moutere Clay Gravels. Dry Farmed. Organically Run.

Flaxmore Block

A few kilometers to the north of the Neudorf Home Block lies the sheltered Flaxmore Valley. The spectacular Flaxmore Vineyard runs down the north facing slope and is owned by Stuart and Patricia Anderson. Neudorf Viticulturist Mike Saunders oversees the viticulture, and we take Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris.

Stats: 5.77 ha. 35% Pinot Gris, 33% Pinot Noir, 32% Chardonnay. Planted 2008. Moutere Clay Gravels.

Haycock Road Block

All our Sauvignon Blanc now comes from this excellent block on the Waimea Plains plains. Owned by Brett and Anna Woodwiss this block is a recent addition to our portfolio and we’re impressed with the fruit. The low crop production regime is overseen by Neudorf Viticulturist Mike Saunders.

Stats: 5.10 ha. 100% Sauvignon Blanc. Planted 2006. Elevated, gently sloping alluvial site nestled into the base of the Barnicoat Range in Hope. The site is warmer and more sheltered than most Waimea vineyards.
